Letter from Stake Presidency

June 3, 2018

Dear Stake Members,

After nearly a year of careful study, we have received approval from the First Presidency to make some boundary changes to better balance the member strength among some of the wards. Lakeside 2nd, 4th, and 6th wards will be impacted by this change. No new wards are being created and all current Bishoprics will be staying in place at this time. We will be holding meetings with the impacted households at 6:30pm (for those moving from 6th to 4th) and 7:00pm (for those moving from 2nd to 6th) on Thursday, June 7th where Bishops of both units and the Stake Presidency will be present to answer questions. Specific information about which session to attend for those impacted has been sent in a separate letter.

We will then follow those meetings with a Stake-wide meeting at 7:30pm on Thursday, June 7th in the Stake Center Chapel. We particularly encourage all members of the 2nd, 4th, and 6th wards to attend but invite any interested Stake members to participate. In addition to reviewing the immediate boundary changes and the revelatory process followed, we will also discuss some of the likely growth that we see happening in the stake over the next several years.

The changes won’t be made effective for one month following these meetings with members expected to attend their new wards on Sunday, July 8th. This will allow a full-month for Bishoprics to meet with new members and to have a Fast Sunday prior to the change.

As a stake presidency, we don’t take lightly the deep and meaningful relationships that are created in a ward family. We recognize that change can be hard. However, we are confident that these changes will be a blessing to all involved and expand the circle of deep associations available to members of the Stake.

With love,

Provo West Stake Presidency
